Family-Managed Home Care bookkeeping for Toronto families
Toronto families who self-manage home care through Family-Managed Home Care (FMHC) take on an employer’s paperwork on top of caregiving: hiring personal support workers or nurses, running payroll, and reporting every dollar to Ontario Health atHome each month.
Most of the city is served by the Toronto Central office of Ontario Health atHome, while parts of North York, Scarborough and Etobicoke are served by neighbouring offices. Whichever office your care coordinator works from, the FMHC reporting rules are the same, and so is our process.

How it works
Getting Started with FMHC Bookkeeping in Toronto
Three steps from approval to a steady monthly routine.
- Talk to your care coordinator
Your Ontario Health atHome care coordinator confirms eligibility and walks you through the FMHC application meetings and agreement. - Meet with us before your first billing cycle
Ontario Health atHome suggests an optional meeting with your bookkeeper before the first billing cycle. It is a good time to review your agreement, budget and payroll set-up together. - We handle the monthly cycle
Each month, receipts, timesheets and invoices are recorded, payroll is prepared, the account is reconciled and your monthly report is ready to submit.
What we do
FMHC Bookkeeping Services for Toronto Families
CPA-led bookkeeping built around Ontario Health atHome’s FMHC reporting requirements.
What’s included
- Transaction recording. Every deposit and payment in your FMHC bank account recorded and categorized against your approved plan of service.
- Monthly expense reports. Your monthly submission prepared in the format Ontario Health atHome requires, with receipts and invoices matched to each line.
- Caregiver payroll. Payroll for the care providers you employ, including CPP, EI and income tax source deductions, remittances to the CRA and year-end T4s.
- Reconciliations. Monthly bank reconciliations and a running funding balance, so you always know what is left in your budget.
- Audit-ready records. Organized files you can hand to your care coordinator or a reviewer at any time.
Organized for reporting
Our reports follow the FMHC funding rules in your agreement, and every figure is supported by a receipt, timesheet or reconciliation. If Ontario Health atHome asks a question, your records are organized and ready.
Employer obligations in Ontario
When you employ caregivers directly under FMHC, you generally have obligations under federal and Ontario rules: CPP, EI and income tax source deductions remitted to the Canada Revenue Agency; vacation and public holiday pay under Ontario’s Employment Standards Act; and WSIB coverage for a domestic worker you employ for more than 24 hours a week. We keep your payroll and records in line with these requirements. This is general information; your FMHC agreement and the relevant agencies set the rules for your situation.
